CAD/CAM dentistry is a field of dentistry that uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided-design and computer-aided-manufacturing) to design and create dental restorations.
This technology allows the delivery of a well-fitting, aesthetic, and a durable prosthesis for the patient.

CAD/CAM complements earlier technologies used for these purposes by any combination of increasing the speed of design; increasing the convenience or simplicity of the design, creation, and insertion processes; and making possible restorations and appliances that otherwise would have been infeasible.

CAD/CAM is used to make DMLS restorations (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) and zirconia restorations. The technique assures accuracy of fit even in 16 unit long restorations.

Templates for Guided implant surgery

Using information gained from a cone beam CT scan about the location of nerves, the density of the bone, and the submandibular fossa, implants are digitally inserted so that the optimal position can be determined. At the same time, provisional or final restorations can be planned and checked to ensure they will provide the desired outcome. Digitally planning the proposed location of the dental implants allows to create the proper separation between the implants and teeth. Patients can benefit from shorter and less invasive surgeries that enhanced precision provides.
